Ally Wollaston: Four years of growth, victories, and unforgettable moments

Ally Wollaston began her journey with our team in 2021 as part of NXTG Racing, quickly progressing to the elite team of AG Insurance - Soudal. Now, after several wonderful years together, Ally is moving on to a new team in 2025. Reflecting on her impressive achievements and personal growth, Ally shares her fondest memories and hopes for the future. We are incredibly proud of the path she has taken and look back on this time together with a smile and deep respect!

Valuable memories and highlights

Over the past years, Ally has experienced many special moments, but a few will always stand out for her. “One of my biggest highlights was the Tour de France Femmes in 2022, even though I crashed in the second stage,” Ally shares. “Being part of the very first edition of this historic race is something I am incredibly grateful for.”

The 2024 Tour Down Under also holds special meaning for Ally. “It was the first stage where I claimed my first Women’s WorldTour victory. And at the end of that tour, I was there to help our teammate Sarah win the overall classification. Those are moments I will remember forever.”

Ally also recalls how, after an injury, she regained her confidence by winning two stages in the 2024 Volta a Catalunya. “After a long period without racing, winning there was truly a relief. I finally felt like myself again,” she says. “I owe those victories to the team that kept believing in me, even after such a long time.”

What will she miss most?

Ally’s time with AG Insurance - Soudal was special not only because of her athletic achievements but also because of the people around her. “I’m really going to miss the team,” Ally says. “Since 2021, this team has become like a family to me, a home away from home. For someone from New Zealand, moving to Europe is a huge step, but this team has always been a support network for me.” She shares that the friendships and warmth of the team helped her achieve her ambitions, and she looks back on these years with gratitude.

Growing as a rider and a person

The impact of AG Insurance - Soudal on Ally’s development has been invaluable. “The guidance and support I received here shaped me as both a rider and a person,” says Ally. A major inspiration for her was Jolien D’hoore, who coached her in tactics, insight, and self-confidence. “With Jolien by my side, I learned so much—not only gaining more knowledge about the sport but also the confidence to know that I belong here.” The support from Jolien and the entire team has given her a solid foundation, something she will carry with her for the rest of her career.

Looking back on four special years

Ally reflects with deep gratitude on her time with AG Insurance - Soudal, a team that gave her the chance to break into cycling from New Zealand. “The past years have been so important in building a solid foundation in this sport,” says Ally. “I will always be grateful for the opportunity the team gave me, especially as they took a chance on a young rider like me and supported me through thick and thin.” She feels fortunate to move forward to her new adventure with so many beautiful memories and valuable friendships.

Future goals and ambitions

Ally looks forward with excitement to what the coming years will bring. “I have so much to look forward to,” she says. “In 2025, I want to focus more on road racing, but I also hope there will still be opportunities to race on the track.” With new goals and a fresh focus on her career, she feels ready for the next steps and new challenges that lie ahead.
