During training and races, under conditions of maximum athletic effort, the skin performs extra thermoregulation work by activating the sweat glands present throughout the body, though more concentrated in some areas. Our garments become soaked with sweat, which is composed of water, fatty substances, sugars, minerals, and bad smelling molecules.

When this water evaporates, completing the perspiration and thermoregulation processes, all the other substances accumulate on the fabric, turning the garment into a fertile ground for bacterial proliferation. This produces the unpleasant smell that garments have after exercise.

Before evaporating, water can also dissolve any detergent residue, fragrance, or additives left on the garments and disperse them into the skin’s hydrolipidic film, increasing the risk of irritation and atopic dermatitis in the most delicate areas, especially those subject to continuous friction which is particularly critical for more sensitive riders.

For all these reasons, during training and racing it is important to wash and take care of technical garments with the right products that:

•  Do not alter the garments’ breathability, water repellency, elasticity, and fit;
• Are easy to rinse and leave no chemical residue on fibres;
• Reduce bacterial load by deeply sanitizing the fabrics;
• Neutralize unpleasant odors without leaving too much fragrance.

Conversely, a garment that is properly washed and fully sanitized maintains its technical features and fit, prevents dermatitis, and stays fresh over time and is so pleasant to wear.

The Nuncas Milano Sportswear line includes detergents for washing and complete sanitization of fabrics, as well as products for sanitizing and deodorizing helmets, shoes, bags, backpacks, and any non-washable accessory.

Sportswear Detergent completely removes residues of soil, gel stains, drinks, grass, blood, and sweat, along with unpleasant odors, even at 30°C, keeping garments fresh and pleasant to wear over time.

Enriched with Tea Tree Oil and Eucalyptus essential oil, it deeply sanitizes garments, eliminating unpleasant odors and preventing bacterial proliferation. It rinses off easily, leaving no surfactant residue or excessive fragrance on garments, thereby avoiding contact dermatitis and helping prevent friction-related irritation.

For even more effective sanitization, Nuncas has created Sportswear Pre-Treatment, to be sprayed directly on garments at the end of training or a ride. It penetrates deeper into fibers and dissolves any build-up of steaky sweat and bacteria so that they can be easily removed with wash.

Sportswear Shoe Freshener prevents helmets and shoes from developing unbearable odors, stopping bacteria growth and avoiding their transfer to socks and the skin. One single spray after each use is enough to keep the “terrible wet-dog odor” away.
