Sarah's bio
Sarah Gigante, born in 2000 in Australia, was raised in an active and adventurous family that cherished a great love for camping and cycling. Annually, they participated in a nine-day cycling and camping tour, specially organized for families and school groups. Sarah experienced this 500-kilometer journey twice on a trailer bike with her mother and once on a tandem. At the age of eight, she decided she wanted to complete the tour on her own bike. After searching for 'cycling clubs for kids' in Melbourne, her mother took her to the velodrome. This first experience at the velodrome left a lasting impression on Sarah and ignited her passion for cycling.
After completing her Bachelor of Arts in linguistics and geography at the University of Melbourne, where she also earned a diploma in Spanish, Sarah fully focused on her cycling career. She particularly excels in climbing and time trialling, and enjoys the challenges that tougher races bring.
Her favorite race varies, but currently, her focus is on the Australian National Championships. One of her proudest moments was representing Australia at the Tokyo Olympic Games, a childhood dream come true.
Besides cycling, which is her biggest hobby, Sarah recently completed a cycle coaching course and coaches a few athletes. She also enjoys spending time with friends, animals, at the beach, or just relaxing.
For 2024, Sarah aims to further develop as a rider, both in strength and positioning. She looks forward to a full race calendar and is excited to try out new hilly stage races, support her teammates, and contribute to the team's success.
