Urška Žigart’s cycling journey started on a home trainer during her school years, evolving from a hobby into a passion. Originally an all-around athlete competing in track and field, volleyball, and running, she found her true calling in cycling. Supported by her parents, who gifted her a racing bike, Urška joined a Slovenian team and fell in love with the sport.

Off the bike, Urška enjoys cooking, baking, and music. She attended music school for seven years and still enjoys playing the piano or guitar. Her favorite training routes are the scenic Côte d’Azur and the diverse landscapes of Slovenia. A versatile rider with a natural talent for climbing, she’s also focused on improving her time-trialing skills. She believes in the motto: “A happy head, fast legs.”

In 2025, Urška aims to build on her progress, achieve strong results in mountainous races, and share her experience with younger riders.

"I had only heard great things about the team, and when AG Insurance - Soudal reached out to me, I was immediately interested in hearing what they had to say. Their vision and the way they saw me fitting into their team instantly appealed to me. It was clear that they had a good understanding of how I could contribute both as a rider and as a person. Within the team, I feel like I’m still learning, even though I already have quite a bit of experience in the WorldTour peloton. This year, however, I realized that I’m not the youngest anymore. So, I hope to pass on some of my knowledge to the younger riders while also staying open to learning from everyone. In races, I’m quite a versatile rider, but I definitely excel at climbing. I can be of great service in that area and sometimes even try to be in the mix in the final.

My personal goals for 2025 are to keep growing as I have over the past few years and to continue this upward trajectory. I’ve shown that I can come close to the best in tough climbing races, so I really want to explore that further and see how far I can go when the opportunity arises.
