The Flèche Wallonne will take place this Wednesday, marking its 27th edition since its inception in 1998. The riders will tackle a 146-kilometer course starting at the Grand Place in Huy and finishing with an iconic 1.3 kilometer climb up the Mur de Huy, where they'll face an average gradient of 9.6%.

The route winds through the provinces of Liège and Namur and includes several climbs such as the Côte de Gives, Côte de Courrière, Côte d’Evrehailles, and the Côte d’Ereffe, which is climbed twice. The Mur de Huy is also tackled twice: first after 114.3 kilometers followed by a local loop of 31.6 kilometers, and finally the climb to the finish after 146 kilometers.

A new feature this year is that the race starts and ends after the men's race, a significant development in the promotion of women's cycling. AG Insurance-Soudal, also the main sponsor of the event, lines up with a strong team: Maaike Boogaard, Justine Ghekiere, Sarah Gigante, Gaia Masetti, Julie Van de Velde, and Ashleigh Moolman Pasio, who last year impressed with a sixth-place finish.

“We are all extremely excited for La Flèche Wallonne tomorrow. It's a race that suits our climbing team well, and one that I've been looking forward to since my last participation in 2021. I unfortunately had to withdraw early due to a crash before reaching the famous Mur de Huy in that edition, so I am now even more eager to test my legs in Wallonia. It's also extra special this time as I'm racing with AG Insurance - Soudal, and AG Insurance is such an important sponsor of the event. Justine and Ashleigh have both achieved Top 10 results in the past week, and the rest of our team is feeling very strong as well, so I believe we have a lot of options and a good chance to compete for a top result tomorrow”, said an enthusiastic Sarah Gigante.
