AG Insurance - Soudal in action in Dordrecht and Rotterdam
On the second day of the Tour de France Femmes, the AG Insurance - Soudal cycling team faced two challenging stages. The day began with a 69,7 kilometer road race from Dordrecht to Rotterdam, followed by a 6,3 kilometer time trial through the center of Rotterdam.
The morning stage turned out to be a hectic race with several crashes. Unfortunately, our riders Anya Louw and Gaia Masetti were also involved in these incidents. Fortunately, they only suffered minor injuries.
Despite the chaotic circumstances, Kim managed to hold her ground in the peloton and finished as the first of our team, securing a 17th place overall.
Later in the day, the time trial was held over a distance of 6,3 kilometers, starting at Schiedamsedijk in Rotterdam. Kim once again delivered a strong performance, recording the best time among our team, which earned her a top 25 position. She achieved an impressive average speed of 48.565 km/h.
"The road race was really hectic. We expected it to be a battle for positions and to avoid crashes, which unfortunately didn't go entirely as planned. But luckily, we're all back on our bikes in one piece. My goal was to stay safe at the front, and Ilse did a fantastic job of supporting that. I managed to secure a good position, and we all crossed the finish line safely. We're still in a good position for the general classification.
In the afternoon, we had the time trial, which I was really nervous about because it was only my second time trial ever. I wasn't really sure how to approach it or how to pace myself. But with Jolien in my ear, guiding me every step of the way, it went a lot better. I gave it everything I had. I think I lost a bit of time on the way back, but I'm still 26th overall. We keep fighting, and the Tour really starts tomorrow, so let's see what we can do", said Kim Le Court after the second day.
