AG Insurance – Soudal ready for Gent-Wevelgem

This Sunday, Gent-Wevelgem is on the calendar. The race starts in the historic city centre of Ypres and finishes in the Vanackerestraat, in Wevelgem. As in the previous editions, there will be no official start signal in Ypres: out of respect for the victims of the First World War, the race will be "flagged off" as a symbolic tribute.
Covering a distance of 169.1 kilometres, the peloton will once again head towards the Moeren. The climbing section follows, with the steepest side of the Kemmelberg as the ultimate challenge. Along the course, monuments and memorial sites create a unique atmosphere, seamlessly blending cycling and history.
Last year, Kim Le Court Pienaar delivered a strong performance for AG Insurance – Soudal, finishing in 13th place. For this 12th edition, the team is once again aiming to be part of the finale. AG Insurance – Soudal will line up with Alana Castrique, Justine Ghekiere, Alexandra Manly, Ilse Pluimers, Nicole Steigenga and Gladys Verhulst-Wild.
"I'm really looking forward to Gent-Wevelgem and I hope it will be a tough race with lots of wind. That suits us well as a team, and personally it suits me too. Hopefully we can reach the final with several riders, so we can play our cards there. We’re lining up with a very strong and well-balanced team, so I’m truly excited!" said Ilse Pluimers.
