AG Insurance – Soudal signs Letizia Borghesi

The strong Classics specialist is the newest member of the Wolfpack.

Our team is delighted to welcome Letizia Borghesi, who will ride in the AG Insurance – Soudal colors until the end of 2027. Hailing from Cles, a charming small town in the province of Trentino, Letizia has a bachelor’s degree in sports science and a deep love for the cobbled Classics, in which she has achieved some remarkable results.

This season, the Italian concluded an impressive runner-up at the “Queen of the Classics”, Paris-Roubaix, and a solid sixth in Ronde van Vlaanderen. Her palmares also features a stage victory from the breakaway at the 2019 Giro d’Italia, as well as a string of top ten finishes in races such as the National Championships, Scheldeprijs, Brabantse Pijl, Dwars door het Hageland, and Grand Prix de Wallonie.

“I’m really looking forward to join the team! From the very first chat with Jolien and Jurgen I had a really good feeling and I am ready to make this important step in my career. I love the Classics, so to be part of a Belgian team is something special. I’m sure AG Insurance – Soudal can give me the right potential to reach my full potential and together we’ll do our best to achieve something nice. It’s impressive how the team has grown in the last few years and I can’t wait to be part of it.”

“My biggest goal for the future is to win a Monument and to be that kind of teammate that can make the difference. Learning Flemish would also be nice. How cool would it be to do a basic interview in this language next year during the Classics?” said a happy Letizia – who started racing at the age of 12 – after inking the two-year deal.

“We are very pleased to welcome Letizia to our team. She brings not only strong expertise and drive, but also a warm and engaging personality. I’m convinced she will be a great fit into our team. She will be a strong asset to our classics squad, where we aim to build greater consistency in the one-day races and strengthen our position in the cobbled Classics. Together with Letizia, we will target good results in key races such as Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Ronde van Vlaanderen and Paris-Roubaix, so we really look forward to welcome her into the team”, said sports manager Jolien D’hoore.

AG Insurance - Soudal CEO Jurgen Foré said of Borghesi’s transfer to the team: “Letizia is someone who will strengthen our squad in the classic races and stage hunting in grand tours where she has shown herself many times. From the talks that we had, we discovered she’s very motivated bring her contribution to the team and to further develop herself, and this makes us confident and excited for the next two seasons.”
