AG Insurance – Soudal wins best team prize in Norway

Our squad took home also a stage victory, the QOM jersey and second on the general classification.

Justine Ghekiere concluded the Tour of Norway on a high note, as she became the mountain standings winner of the inaugural edition. The Belgian, victorious on the first stage, did her best to defend the leader’s jersey together with her AG Insurance – Soudal teammates, but the relentless attacks that came on the hilly circuit around Stavanger on Sunday made things really difficult to control, and in the end a rider managed to go clear, taking both the stage and the overall win.

Our rider arrived less than a minute later, together with a small group, and sprinted to sixth, enough to put her into second place on the general classification. Having her and Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio there helped AG Insurance – Soudal seal the victory in the team standings, another well-deserved result for our squad, who was active the entire weekend and left its mark on the race.

“It was fantastic to see the commitment of the riders and the way we controlled the race with such a young team. The first day was a perfect one, while on the second, we did all that we could, but there was someone stronger in the end and we must accept that. Our riders gave everything and had a great attitude in the race, so we can look on last weekend with great pride”, said sports director Stijn Steels.
