Alex Manly: "Ready for a new challenge with AG Insurance - Soudal"

AG Insurance - Soudal is excited to announce that 28-year-old Australian rider Alex Manly will be joining the team in 2025 with a contract running through to 2026. Alex is looking forward to starting a new chapter in her career and shares her story, ambitions, and what attracted her to the team.

“I got into cycling through a talent identification program. It took me some time to pick up the skills and fully understand what I was doing. But that program gave me a community and a group of like-minded friends, which kept me motivated to keep showing up. Soon, I fell in love with the freedom and clarity I felt while riding. And once I started to learn the tactics of the sport, I loved it even more. It gave me a kind of flow that I don’t often find elsewhere.”

“I’ve been watching the team race over the years, and it was clear how well they work together. They might not always win, but they fight every time to be in the mix, and I admire that so much. That team spirit really appeals to me. I’ve only ever ridden for one team, Greenedge, where I have so many great memories. But now, I’m ready for a new challenge and a new environment where I can grow."

“After my conversations with Jolien and hearing about the team’s goals, I felt that their values really aligned with mine. I’ve been truly inspired by what the team has achieved in recent seasons, and I think I’ll fit in well here. The fact that there are already a few other Australian riders on the team makes the transition easier. I’m really looking forward to working with them.”

“I see myself as a versatile rider, and I want to support the team in as many ways as possible. With my experience in different roles, I think I can bring value throughout the season. Personally, I’d like to focus on a strong spring and aim for success in the Tour de France, especially in the stages."

“I don’t have many expectations for my growth within the team. I’m coming in with an open mind, but I know I’ll grow as a rider by learning from and working with new people. I hope to be someone the girls can rely on, both on and off the bike.”

“I’m still focused on finishing the current season, but soon I’ll start getting to know everyone at AG Insurance - Soudal. I think that process will come naturally. I’m really excited to join the team and can’t wait to start this new adventure.”
