Ally Wollaston sprints to seventh place in the Simac Ladies Tour
Sunday, the sixth and final stage of the 26th Simac Ladies Tour took place, with a start and finish in Arnhem over a 145,8 kilometer course. This was also the last race of the season for the riders of AG Insurance – Soudal.
At 39 kilometers from the finish, a rider broke away from the peloton. The peloton kept a tight grip on the chase and pursued the breakaway rider throughout. Eventually, she was caught in the last 300 meters, leading to a bunch sprint.
Ally Wollaston, rider for AG Insurance – Soudal, positioned herself well in the hectic finale and sprinted to a strong seventh place.
After the race, Ally said: “I’m really happy to be in the mix again at this level. Today my teammates helped me a lot in the final to position me well. Of course, you hope for more in terms of results, but I think it was a step in the right direction.
It feels really weird to say today was my last day racing for AG Insurance - Soudal. This team has been my family since I started racing in Europe, so it was an emotional day knowing it was my last. I owe a huge amount of thank you’s to all staff and girls for making my time in this team so memorable and special. The relationships and memories I have created within this team for sure do not end today and I’m looking forward to seeing you all on the road in 2025 (only in different colours!).”
