Another Italian appointment for our team, with Trofeo Oro

Mireia Benito, Lore De Schepper and Urska Zigart headline our roster for Sunday’s race.

AG Insurance – Soudal remains in Tuscany the day after Strade Bianche for the Trofeo Oro, where our squad will be present for the first time. The main attraction of the course, starting and finishing in the small town of Montignoso, is the Fortezza climb, which the peloton will tackle twice in the second part of the race.

An important selection is expected to take place during the first ascent of the 3.5km hill – whose gradient reaches 6% – which the riders face again with just 15 kilometers to go, when the pre-race favourites should make their move, especially as the climb is followed by a technical descent.

Top ten at the Tour Down Under in January and an impressive third at the Cadel Evans Road Race, Mireia Benito will be one of the four AG Insurance – Soudal riders at the start of the 107km one-day race, where she’ll be joined by Lore De Schepper, Anya Louw and Urska Zigart. Rounding out the team are Helena Jones and Nina Lavenu, who come across from our Devo squad.

“We're really motivated for today's race in Trofeo Oro in Euro where the team compete for the first time with Mireia, Lore, Urska being backed up by Anya and our devo riders Helena and Nina. It will be full gas racing as we start with 60 kilometres of flat roads followed by two times the Fortezza climb. We will again be ready for a hard race race,  just like in Strade, and will do our best to get a good result at the end of the day”, said sports director Fien Delbaere.
