Ashleigh Moolman Pasio misses La Vuelta Femenina due to illness.

AG Insurance - Soudal rider Ashleigh Moolman Pasio will unfortunately will not be able to participate in the upcoming La Vuelta Femenina. Ashleigh, who was set to start as the lead rider but has recently fallen ill. Despite her efforts to recover in time she has not been able to regain full fitness for the start of this La Vuelta, and as her health is our highest priority, we fully support her in her recovery process.

Maud Rijnbeek will replace Ashleigh Moolman Pasio in the race, which runs from April 28 to May 5.

“In an instant, my spring goals slipped away from me, just as I was starting to hit my peak form after months of dedicated training”, said Ashleigh Moolman Pasio. “The Ardennes classics were very promising; my performance improved with each race, fueling my excitement for the upcoming Vuelta. However, fate had other plans. I woke up feeling ill on the day of Liège-Bastogne-Liège, yet I honored the team's choice to compete. Unfortunately, the illness has worsened this week, forcing me to make the tough decision to prioritize my health and focus on a complete recovery. This way, I can return even stronger to achieve my objectives later in the season. I wish my team lots of strength in the coming days.”
