Our team goes with ambitions to the start of the French one-day race in Plouay, scheduled this Saturday.

We are back in Plouay this weekend for the 25th edition of the Classic Lorient, the final World Tour race of the month. Numerous climbs coming in quick succession, narrow roads, tricky corners, and steep gradients - these are the ingredients of the 172.6km course which will see the riders cover an elevation gain of over 2200 meters.

The final part of the route is a relentless one and should make for some explosive racing. The climbs of Côte de Ty Marrec and Côte de Lezot - which will feature several times - are sure to whittle down the peloton and be used as launch pads by those hoping to make a selection and arrive alone or part of a small group at the finish.

AG Insurance - Soudal will be at the start with a strong and versatile squad consisting of Letizia Borghesi, Amandine Fouquenet, Justine Ghekiere, Kim Le Court-Pienaar - fresh off her spectacular overall victory at the Tour of Britain - Nicole Steigenga, and Julie Van de Velde.

“Classic Lorient is a hard race, held on the type of course where attacks can come thick and fast, making things difficult to control. However, the level our team has shown in the past couple of weeks gives us confidence that we can be protagonists on the hilly roads of Bretagne and aim for another good result”, said sports director Stijn Steels.
