Ready to Conquer the Tour Down Under in Adelaide
AG Insurance - Soudal enters the Tour Down Under in Adelaide, Australia, from January 12 to 14, with great anticipation.
With a strong and diverse team consisting of Julie Van de Velde, Gaia Masetti, Anya Louw, Ally Wollaston, Sarah Gigante, and Kim Le Court, we are ready to kick off this season in this prestigious race. Our cyclists Sarah Gigante and Anya Louw will be competing in their home country of Australia. The course, which runs through the historic streets of Hahndorf, the beautiful Adelaide Hills, and over the challenging climb of Willunga Hill, offers a mix of sprint stages and climbing challenges that will test the diverse skills of our cyclists.
This race marks a special moment for our team as our first event since being promoted to the World Tour following a solid 2023 season. We are proud to start with a dynamic team, including our new additions Kim Le Court, Sarah Gigante, and Julie Van de Velde.
Following the main race, we look forward to the Down Under Criterium on January 18 in Victoria Park, Pakapakanthi, in the heart of Adelaide. This criterium, consisting of a 1.2-kilometer circuit where our cyclists will compete for 50 minutes plus two rounds, promises to be an exciting conclusion to the race. With two sprints planned, it is an ideal opportunity for our sprinters to showcase their strength.
“I am incredibly excited to participate again in the Tour Down Under. The fact that my teammates are here in Australia makes it extra special for me. This is the first World Tour race of the 2024 season and the motivation within our team is high, especially following our recent promotion to WT status. The first two stages are perfect for Ally, and with Sarah and Julie, we have a strong team for the climbing stages. We are completely ready to dive in and give it our all. It promises to be a fantastic week in South Australia!”, Anya said enthusiastically.
