Ally Wollaston clinched two gold medals for AG Insurance - Soudal at the Track Nations Cup in Adelaide on Friday.

She secured first place in both the Team Pursuit and the Elimination Race, an impressive feat in the run-up to the Olympic Games. The races took place at the prestigious Anna Meares Velodrome in Adelaide. In the Team Pursuit, Ally Wollaston led her New Zealand teammates Bryony Botha, Michaela Drummond, and Emily Shearman to victory with a time of 4:10.229, ahead of Great Britain (4:10.578) and Australia (4:14.565). In the Elimination Race, Wollaston dominated again and won gold, followed by Jennifer Valente and Jessica Roberts.

Ally shared her enthusiasm after her victories: “The team pursuit went really smoothly throughout the day. We had a strong qualification, which put us in second place. In the first round, we rode aggressively to secure our spot in the final and achieved a very fast time, which gave us a lot of confidence for the final. We led most of the final, gained the upper hand early in the race and fortunately held on until the end!”

“We knew we were capable of winning a medal at this Nations Cup, but winning was certainly not expected. Great Britain beat us in the final at the world championships, so it was a tough task to win the final. I am so proud of my team today and very happy with three solid performances throughout the day. This gives us a lot of confidence and excitement for the rest of the track season!”

“The elimination race was shortly after the final of the team pursuit, so it was mentally and physically challenging to prepare for another race so soon after. I did not expect to win, but of course, I always strive to race for the win. It was a great warm-up for the omnium on Sunday, and an excellent test of my form in the bunch after a road season with AG Insurance - Soudal.”
