Justine Ghekiere crowned Belgian National Champion after outstanding team effort

It was a day to remember for Justine Ghekiere and the entire team. At the Belgian Road Race Championships, Justine delivered a brilliant performance to take home the national title. The win was the result of both her individual strength and a flawless team strategy.

“This means so much to me,” Justine said, visibly emotional after the finish. “To wear this jersey in my own country is something every Belgian rider dreams of. We had a strong team at the start today, and with that numerical advantage, we were able to really shape the race and make it hard.”

From the early stages, the team took initiative with Julie Van de Velde and Lore De Schepper in the breakaway, the team created a perfect situation. When the breakaway was caught Justine launched her move and could make it off in the sprint.

“The team rode a perfect race today from the beginning. With Julie and Lore in the breakaway, it was a perfect situation for us. When the breakaway was caught I gave my in the attack. I was afraid they would catch us but I kept on pushing. In the sprint, I launched it quite early because I knew Fien is quite explosive so I wanted to counter that, and guess what, I became Belgian Champion. I still have no words to be honest.”

“I dedicate this victory to the entire team — I couldn’t have done it without them.”
