Justine Ghekiere sprints to top 10 at Brabantse Pijl

Justine Ghekiere of AG Insurance – Soudal carved her way into the top 10 in the Brabantse Pijl, finishing in an impressive eighth place. Our team brought a mixed of U23 riders and elite riders to the start, and produced a strong outing. This year, the colors of AG Insurance – Soudal were defended by Ashleigh Moolman Pasio, Sarah Gigante, Julie Van de Velde, and Justine Ghekiere from the elite team, along with Febe Jooris and Lore De Schepper from the U23 team.

The race, starting at the Markt in Lennik and finishing on the Brusselsesteenweg in Overijse, covered 134,9 kilometers and included 20 challenging climbs, among them the Bruineput and Eigenbrakelsesteenweg. Elisa Longo Borghini took the win, followed by Demi Vollering who crossed the finish line 41 seconds later. This set the stage for an exciting sprint for third place by a large group of favorites, and Justine took a solid eighth there.

"The positioning went quite well today. We had a strong team at the start, and as a team, we were always well-positioned. Towards the end, I was with Ashleigh and I tried to keep up as well as possible. I noticed that my position was really good and that I could compete in the sprint. So I told myself that I would just give everything until the finish. I'm incredibly happy with this top 10; it's been a long time coming, but finally, it happened," said an enthusiastic Justine.
