On Friday, the sixth stage of the Tour de France Femmes took place, a challenging 159.2-kilometer route that led the AG Insurance – Soudal riders from Remiremont to Morteau.

With 53 kilometers to go, Justine Ghekiere made the decision to join a breakaway, thus beginning her pursuit of the polka dot jersey. On the Côte de Laviron, she was the first to collect points, immediately putting her in the virtual lead of the mountains classification. She continued this strong performance by gathering more points on La Roche du Prêtre, securing her first polka dot jersey in the Tour de France Femmes. In July, she was already crowned Queen of the Mountain in the Giro d’Italia Women.

Currently, she leads the mountains classification with three points, closely followed by Puck Pieterse.

"In the Tour, you're competing against the absolute top of the cycling world, and I definitely felt that. To be able to wear this jersey, I gave everything I had and pushed myself to the limit. It gives me confidence to know that I can make a difference at this level. It was also necessary to attack to claim this jersey. The coming days will bring tough mountain stages, and it will certainly be a challenge, but I will try to stay with the group as long as possible and hopefully collect some points on the first climb. Tonight, I’m going to enjoy this jersey for a moment, and tomorrow, we’ll see what the day brings" said a proud Justine after the race.
