Kim Le Court Pienaar finishes in the top 15 at Strade Bianche

On Saturday, March 8, AG Insurance – Soudal lined up for the 11th edition of Strade Bianche, one of the most iconic one-day races on the cycling calendar. The race started and finished in Siena, covering a demanding 136 km course, including 50.3 km of gravel roads, spread over 13 sectors.
The riders faced a technical and selective course, featuring steep climbs on the iconic white roads of Tuscany. In the final phase of the race, Colle Pinzuto (2.4 km, max. 15%) and Le Tolfe (1.1 km, max. 18%) proved decisive, followed by the steep Via Santa Caterina (16%), leading the riders to the finish on Piazza del Campo.

Strong performance from Kim Le Court Pienaar
At 47 kilometers from the finish, Femke Gerritse launched an attack, creating a gap with the peloton. Kim Le Court Pienaar was part of a chasing group of six riders, who managed to bridge the gap and maintain a high pace at the front.
After finishing 25th in her Strade Bianche debut in 2024, Kim took another step forward. With 12 kilometers to go, she had to let the top favorites go, but her strong performance earned her a top 15 finish.
The victory ultimately went to Demi Vollering, who soloed to triumph on Piazza del Campo in Siena.
Kim Le Court Pienaar: "I wanted to be the one making moves"
“I felt really good today. Coming into the season, I didn’t want to just follow—I wanted to be the one attacking, making moves, and taking opportunities. When I saw a good moment, I went for it. Unfortunately, maybe I did a bit too much too early, but I had a clear mindset and a goal in mind.
I might have small regrets, but honestly, not really—because I gave it everything I had. I’d rather try and go for it than just follow and end up getting dropped from the back. That’s something I can be proud of. I’m really looking forward to the rest of the season!”
