Lore De Schepper proud after strong ride in ‘Donate Plasma’ shirt at Liège–Bastogne–Liège

During Liège–Bastogne–Liège Femmes, there was more at stake for AG Insurance – Soudal than just the sporting result. In the iconic Ardennes Classic, our riders lined up in a special ‘Donate Plasma’ jersey, carrying a powerful message.

On a day marked by a high pace and a demanding course, the peloton stayed together for a long time. After more than 100 kilometres of racing, the race opened up heading into the decisive phase, where the intensity only increased on the well-known climbs.

For Lore De Schepper, it was a valuable learning experience at the highest level. The young Belgian, one of the youngest riders at the start, held her ground impressively among the WorldTour peloton. On the approach to La Redoute, she briefly lost contact but managed to regain it on the descent.

In the finale, the pace proved just a bit too high, but De Schepper showed character and maturity among the very best in the sport.

“I think it was personally a bit better than Wednesday at La Flèche Wallonne Féminine. In the end, the pace was just too high, but I’m satisfied. It was a really hard race today. On La Redoute I left a small gap, but I managed to close it again on the descent. In the finale I just couldn’t make it back, but I’m happy with how I positioned myself.”

Beyond the sporting aspect, this edition of La Doyenne was all about the ‘Donate Plasma’ campaign. With the logo of Rode Kruis Vlaanderen prominently featured on the jersey, the team used its visibility to support an important social cause: raising awareness about the shortage of plasma in Belgium.

Plasma is essential for thousands of patients, yet remains largely under the radar. By giving up their place on the jersey, AG Insurance and Soudal aimed to send a clear message and encourage people to take action.

The campaign was strongly embraced within the team. De Schepper said after the race she was proud to ride and showcase the ‘Donate Plasma’ message during one of the biggest races of the season.

With a tough race in the legs and an important message widely shared, AG Insurance – Soudal can look back on a meaningful edition of Liège–Bastogne–Liège.
