Lore De Schepper crowned as 'Belofte van het Jaar'

AG Insurance - Soudal is proud to announce that Lore De Schepper (20) was named ‘Talent of the Year’ in the women’s category on Tuesday evening during the Kristallen Week. The recognition comes after an impressive first season among the elite, where the young climber made her mark in multiple areas.

“It’s a confirmation that I’m on the right path,” said a visibly surprised but happy De Schepper after receiving the trophy. “I hoped to win, but I still didn’t expect it.”

De Schepper made a big leap in her development this year. As a neo-pro, she delivered a consistent season with strong performances in stage races. During the Giro Donne she secured an excellent top-10 in the fourth stage, and later in the season she finished eighth at the World Championships and seventh at the European Championships, each time as the designated leader in her age category.

“It was a year in which I learned a lot,” she explained. “Stage racing suits me, and I feel I’m building confidence. This award gives me a lot of motivation for 2026.”

Lore remains ambitious off the bike as well: she combines professional cycling with her studies in Movement Sciences. “It’s sometimes a puzzle, but it works. It’s important for me to keep doing something alongside cycling.”

Looking ahead to next season, De Schepper already has new goals in mind.
“My dream is to shine in the Ardennes Classics and the Grand Tours. The Giro is at the top of my list.”
