Luca Vierstraete shines in Borlo Time Trial

Several junior and U23 riders from AG Insurance – Soudal put in impressive performances during the Test Time Trial in Borlo. Taking to the start line were Auke De Buysser, Ella Heremans, Luca Vierstraete, Febe Jooris, and Jade Linthoudt, with the latter two representing the U23 team.

The 14.7-kilometer course, starting and finishing in Borlo, took the riders through Niel, Montenaken, and Jeuk. The relatively flat course featured some gently rolling hills.

Luca Vierstraete claimed victory, followed by Ella Heremans in an honorable third place, while Auke De Buysser secured a strong sixth place. Ilken Seynave from GMS Cycling Team Glabbeek took the second spot, providing stiff competition.

“The time trial went really well. Despite the strong wind, I really enjoyed the course with its small hills. The competition was high, with a field of 22 juniors”, said Luca Vierstraete after her victory.

“Ultimately, it was quite a challenging time trial, especially due to the strong gusts of wind between four and five Beaufort. The course wasn't completely flat either, so this combination made it a tough challenge. Nonetheless, our riders put in beautiful performances, ultimately securing a first, third, and sixth place. It's a result we can truly be proud of”, said coach Martijn Kusters.
