Medical Update - Tour of Britain Stage 2
Kim Le Court-Pienaar, who was involved in a crash in the peloton, in the opening kilometres of the stage, has suffered an impact injury to her sacrum with some abrasions. Fortunately she could continue the stage. Our medical staff will have some extra checks tomorrow morning to confirm her appearance for the third stage.
With less 20 kilometres to go, our French rider Gladys Verhulst-Wild hit the ground, where a several riders of the group were involved.
Gladys was immediately taken to the hospital, where examinations and a CT scan revealed that Gladys is suffering: 8 rib fractures, a pneumothorax (collapsed lung) and a fractured humeral head. This will require our French rider to take several weeks of recovery to heal from her injuries.
She will remain at the hospital overnight, before she will return home to her family and to take the necessary time to recover.
Everybody at AG Insurance - Soudal and The Wolfpack wishes Gladys a speedy recovery.
