On Saturday, February 1, AG Insurance – Soudal lined up for their final race on Australian soil, the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race. The team was determined to conclude their Australian campaign on a positive note, taking on a 141,8 kilometer course in and around Geelong, characterized by rolling terrain and challenging climbs.

Unfortunately, Justine Ghekiere was involved in a crash 27 kilometers from the finish, going down together with Ella Simpson (St Michel - Preference Home - Auber93 WE). She managed to get back on her bike but was ultimately forced to abandon the race. Fortunately, she did not sustain any serious injuries.

Sports Director Stijn Steels commented after the race: "Unfortunately, Justine crashed with about 30 kilometers to go. She tried to continue but had to stop. We did everything we could to bring Alexandra Manly back after the final climb, but it didn’t work out as we had hoped. Luckily, Justine is not seriously injured, and we are relieved to finish our Australian campaign with the team safe and sound."
