The AG Insurance - Soudal promise team took extra preparations for the cycling season by conducting a series of aerodynamics tests on the cycling track in Omnisport Apeldoorn last Sunday. Under the guidance of coach Martijn Kusters, the U23 female riders had the opportunity to optimize their posture and equipment for maximum performance.

The unique cycling track of Omnisport, famous for its 250-meter long and 7-meter wide track, provided the perfect setting for this intensive session.

“Today, we focused on aerodynamics testing. Our goal was to minimize the power that a rider must produce to overcome air resistance as much as possible. This can be done through equipment, but more so by improving the cyclist’s position, which was the focus of our session in Apeldoorn.”

“By having the rider cycle several rounds in their current posture and making one adjustment to their position with each round, we were able to see if there was an improvement in the aerodynamic value. This value, calculated based on knowledge of the power delivered, air density, and cycling speed, allowed us to identify significant improvements in both the position and posture of our riders.”

“We look back on this day with satisfaction. We found improvements in the position and posture of the riders that will be invaluable in achieving higher speeds in the time trials to come”, said Martijn Kusters.
