Kim Le Court seals overall victory at the Tour of Britain Women

Kim Le Court has secured the overall victory at the 2026 Tour of Britain Women, bringing a remarkable week for AG Insurance - Soudal to a perfect conclusion. After five demanding stages across England and Wales, the Mauritian champion safely brought the leader’s jersey to the finish in Leamington Spa to claim the general classification.

The team’s week started in Cockermouth with a difficult opening stage. Gladys Verhulst-Wild was involved in a crash and unfortunately suffered a fractured collarbone, forcing her to leave the race. Despite the early setback, the team remained focused. Letizia Borghesi sprinted to a strong sixth place, while Le Court stayed safe and kept herself in contention for the general classification.

Stage 2, from Clitheroe to Blackpool, ended in another fast finale. Le Court joined the battle in the sprint and took an impressive third place, confirming her strong form and keeping herself firmly in the GC picture ahead of the more demanding stages to come.

The decisive moment of the week followed on Stage 3 in Wales. The uphill finish on the Great Orme had been marked as one of the team’s main objectives before the race, and AG Insurance - Soudal executed the plan perfectly. With 2.5 kilometres remaining, Le Court made her move. She attacked, quickly opened a gap and never looked back, crossing the line solo on top of the Great Orme. The victory also moved her into the overall race lead.

Defending that lead became the priority on Stage 4. As expected, rival teams tried to put AG Insurance - Soudal under pressure with several attacks throughout the day. The team responded strongly, working together to control the dangerous moves and protect the leader’s jersey. In the final 40 kilometres, Le Court also took responsibility herself, reacting to attacks before sprinting to another third place at the finish.

That left one final task on Sunday: bringing the leader’s jersey safely to Leamington Spa.

On the fifth and final stage, the team once again rallied around Le Court with one clear objective. After a week in which the squad had overcome setbacks, raced aggressively when opportunities presented themselves and defended the jersey together, Le Court safely crossed the finish line to seal the overall victory at the 2026 Tour of Britain Women.

“It still hasn’t fully sunk in,” Le Court said. “I’m so grateful for the team I had around me this week, because without them, none of this would have been possible. We raced with full hearts for Gladys. Losing her so early was hard, and today’s win is for her. This was a true team effort, and I couldn’t be more proud.”

Sports Director Dani Christmas was equally proud of the way the team responded throughout the week.

“I’m incredibly proud of the way the girls raced this week. Everyone left everything out on the road. Even after the setback, the mentality in this group was outstanding. This is a fantastic victory for Kim and for the whole team, and we are truly proud to take the GC at the Tour of Britain.”

Le Court ends the Tour of Britain Women with a stage victory on the Great Orme, several podium finishes and, most importantly, the overall title. The result rewards a complete team performance across five challenging days of racing and underlines the resilience shown by the squad after losing Verhulst-Wild early in the race.

With the general classification secured in Leamington Spa, AG Insurance - Soudal ends the Tour of Britain Women on a high, adding another UCI Women’s WorldTour stage-race overall victory to the team’s palmarès and taking home one of the biggest victories of the season.
