AG Insurance – Soudal to the Tour de Suisse
Our team is looking forward to the event taking place between 12-15 June.
The sixth edition of the Tour de Suisse will start from Gstaad – a city widely known as being one of the world’s major ski resorts – where the peloton will embark on a 95km trek that could already bring some gaps in the general classification, and continue with what will arguably be the hardest stage of the race, featuring numerous climbs – some of them boasting steep gradients – before the finish in Oberkirch.
The third and penultimate stage of the competition could have a breakaway in the spotlight, before the final showdown in Kussnacht, where the riders will conclude after a local circuit built around the demanding ascent of Michaelskreuz, whose stinging slopes promise an important selection.
Mireia Benito, Julia Borgström, Lore De Schepper, Sarah Gigante, Julie Van De Velde and Slovenian Champion Urska Zigart are the six AG Insurance – Soudal riders who’ll take on the 19th race on the World Tour calendar.
“This year’s Tour de Suisse has a really hard route, despite not featuring a mountain top finish, a course with more than 7000 vertical meters. It’s going to be a fierce battle for the general classification, especially as the parcours should make for some offensive racing, something that we like, as evidenced by our recent displays in the Basque Country, Burgos or Norway. We have a strong team and we don’t lack the confidence needed for this challenge, so we are ready to do our best again in this important race”, said sports director Stijn Steels.
