AG Insurance – Soudal to the Tour de Romandie

Urska Zigart and Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio headline our team for this week’s race.

Our team returns to Switzerland, two months after a solid outing at the Tour de Suisse, for one of the last events of the season on the World Tour calendar: Tour de Romandie, which runs between 15-17 August. An uphill prologue to Villars-sur-Ollon will kick off this fourth edition and establish an initial pecking order before the biggest difficulty of the race, the summit finish to La Tzoumaz, a long and punishing first-category ascent where the average gradient exceeds 8%.

Aigle hosts the last day of the Tour de Romandie, which puts on the table a hilly circuit built around two hard climbs: Le Châtel and La Rasse. The steep gradients and the fact the last of these comes just 11 kilometers from the finish should make for an open race and give those going for the general classification another opportunity to gain time and move up in the standings.

AG Insurance – Soudal will be at the start of the race with three-time Spanish ITT Champion Mireia Benito, Julia Borgström, 2022 overall winner Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio, Julie Van de Velde and Urska Zigart, who finished a strong fifth on the Tour de Suisse GC in June.

The race has a heavy climbing focus, and we go there with a very strong team to suit those demands, a motivated squad that works well together and can fight for some good results. We are all excited to get stuck into the racing and really look forward to this race”, explained sports director Dani Christmas.
