AG Insurance – Soudal U23 to compete in Scheldeprijs

A young and motivated squad will be in action at the fifth edition of the Belgian one-day race.

Starting and finishing in Schoten, Scheldeprijs takes in five cobblestone sectors spread over the 130.3 kilometers of the pan-flat course which on paper shouldn’t pose any problems to the peloton, who’ll target a bunch sprint. On the other hand, the weather could be an important factor, because in case of strong winds there is a real possibility to see the bunch get fragmented long before the finish and the race to be turned into an attritional one.

AG Insurance – Soudal U23 is set to take on the fast Belgian one-day race with a six-rider squad consisting of Messane Brautigam, Anna Bruneel, Billy Goossens, Margot Marasco, Marith Vanhove and Luca Vierstraete.

“We have a young and motivated group heading to Scheldeprijs. They have already shown some great teamwork this season, so we will be looking to build on this foundation this Wednesday. Marith has some good experience in this race, and Margot debuted last year, but for the rest of the squad it will be their first time in Scheldeprijs. For this reason, the riders have been preparing for the race together.”

“Scheldeprijs is known as a sprinters’ race, so we are looking forward to an opportunity to drill our sprints team, but we will also be prepared to race hard and give our best throughout the race, and determined to make the most out of it”, said sports director Dani Christmas.
