Senne Knaven suffers concussion after training crash

Senne Knaven of the AG Insurance-Soudal Quick-Step U23 team was involved in a one-sided accident during training today. The 20-year-old Belgian rider was transported to a hospital in Tilburg, the Netherlands.
“Senne probably crashed into road furniture during training this morning,” team doctor Sophie van Bakel explains. “The emergency services were alerted straight away and the ambulance and air ambulance were there really fast. Senne was then transported to hospital where scans and further examinations were done. She broke one rib, has scrapes and bruises and a severe concussion. This means that we activate the concussion protocol immediately. For now, it’s about minimalizing all stimuli. She was awake and even laughed. She responded to her parents already but for now Senne will need a lot of sleep and rest. As a precaution she will stay in the hospital tonight.”
