Strong 8th place for Lore De Schepper at the World Championships in Rwanda

Our rider Lore De Schepper delivered an impressive performance at the U23 road race of the World Championships in Rwanda, finishing in 8th place. Her clear goal going into the race was a top-10 finish, and with determination and resilience, Lore made it happen on the challenging course in Kigali. Tess Moerman, our 19-years-old young wolf from our devo team, could finish her solid race as 30th in Kigali.

“I’m very happy,” Lore said with a big smile after crossing the line. “The race was even tougher than I expected. It was super explosive, every single climb.”

In the penultimate lap, things looked difficult for a moment. “I was positioned too far back and got dropped. I thought it was over, but we could still see the group ahead and I managed to come back. In the final lap I focused on being in the front again, and that made a big difference.”

Lore stressed how important positioning was on this circuit. “Every climb came after a 180-degree turn, and the accelerations were brutal. That’s not my strongest point, so I tried to anticipate. It was all about positioning and surviving.”

Securing her spot in the world’s top 10 made her proud. “That was my ambition, and I’m happy I achieved it. The podium was out of reach, but this is a very strong result for me.”
