Strong start for Kim Le Court on first stage of the Tour de France Femmes

The third edition of the Tour de France Femmes got underway on Monday, with the riders of AG Insurance - Soudal lining up for the opening stage, which travelled from Rotterdam to La Haye. This 123km stage began at Museumpark, a bustling port city in the west of the Netherlands, located in the province of South Holland.

With rising temperatures and a flat course, it was clear that it would culminate in a hectic sprint finish.

Kim Le Court, who recently claimed the win on the final stage of the Giro d’Italia Women, once again demonstrated her abilities by securing a strong top ten finish, crossing the line in La Haye in eighth place.

Sports Manager Jolien D’hoore commented afterwards: “We were actually prepared for the worst today. We knew it would be a hectic day if the wind picked up and echelons formed. Fortunately, it turned out better than expected. The crashes were limited, there was no wind, so it was a relatively calm day. We were spared from bad luck, everyone stayed safe, and with a solid eighth place from Kim in the top ten, we can call it a successful day.”
