Excellent start to the Tour de France Femmes for AG Insurance - Soudal

Kim Le Court-Pienaar powered to an impressive second place on the opening stage of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, capping off a brilliant collective performance by AG Insurance – Soudal Team in Lausanne.

The 2026 edition of the Tour de France Femmes got underway with an exciting circuit around Lausanne, where an aggressive and demanding finale set the stage for a battle between the race's strongest riders.

Throughout the day, AG Insurance - Soudal Team was at the front of the peloton and positioning its leader Kim Le Court-Pienaar perfectly ahead of the decisive closing kilometres. The team's collective effort ensured Kim Le Court-Pienaar started the final kilometres in an ideal position to fight for victory and the yellow jersey.

After matching every key acceleration on the uphill finish, Le Court launched her sprint in the closing metres and crossed the line in an excellent second place.

The result is a deserved reward for the outstanding teamwork displayed throughout the opening stage and gives the squad plenty of confidence heading into the days ahead.

Le Court-Pienaar was pleased with both her result and the team's performance: “It was a hard finish, really. Our plan was to make it hard and I think our team really initiated the climb. Yeah, we did what we could. It’s just unfortunate  that Lorena was there, but we knew there was a big chance that she would make it. It’s the best sprinter in the world, so I’m still happy to be behind her.”
