Thank you, Maaike Boogaard, for two special years with AG Insurance - Soudal

After two wonderful years, Maaike Boogaard bids farewell to AG Insurance - Soudal. The 26-year-old rider from Hoorn, Netherlands, will continue her journey with a new team from 2025. As she prepares for new challenges, she reflects one last time on the highlights and growth she experienced with our team. We are incredibly proud of the beautiful time we shared together and wish Maaike all the best for what’s to come!

Cherished memories and special moments

Of her many valuable memories, one victory stands out for Maaike: her win in Fourmies. “The team fully supported me during the race,” says Maaike. “The emotions after the finish made the moment very special for me.” She also enjoyed some memorable moments as a spectator with the team, such as during a training camp in Valencia. She recalls celebrating her teammate Ashleigh’s stage victory with the team: “I hadn’t raced myself, but it was so nice to be there and celebrate that victory together.”

Another bond Maaike treasures is the one with her “partner in crime” Nicole. “I’m really going to miss Nicole,” she says. Their strong bond and countless moments together on the bike made her time with the team extra special.

Growth as a rider and a person

At AG Insurance - Soudal, Maaike grew not only as a rider but also as a person. “I learned a lot, like what it means to be a team captain,” she says. She also discovered a new perspective on cycling and life around it: “Cycling is an important part of my life, but there’s so much more. This realization has often helped me put things into perspective more quickly.”

This balance between sport and life helped her become stronger both in life and on the bike, especially during challenging moments.

Two valuable years

Maaike looks back warmly on her time with the team. “They were two wonderful years, of course with their ups and downs,” she says. “But the way the team supported me during the tougher times is something I will always be grateful for.” That support and the trust from the team left a deep impression on her and helped her push forward, both on and off the bike.

Ambitions and new goals

As Maaike prepares for a new chapter, she has her sights set on the spring classics. “My goal is to return to my former level and continue my development. I’ve had to overcome quite a few obstacles in recent years, but I’ve truly found joy in cycling again. That joy is, of course, an important foundation for being able to perform,” she shares enthusiastically. Maaike is also looking forward to bringing her experience to her new team: “I hope to contribute something with my knowledge to the younger generation and to achieve great results together.”

Farewell, Maaike!

Although Maaike’s time with AG Insurance - Soudal has come to an end, her impact will remain. We are proud of what she has achieved and look back fondly on her time with us.
