Top Ten Finish for Ally Wollaston in Tour de la Semois
The fifth edition of the Tour de la Semois started on Friday with a 110,3 km stage from Bohan to Vresse-sur-Semois, featuring two local laps of 15.7 km at the end. The second and final stage on Saturday was 112,4 km long, starting and finishing in Bertrix.
On the final day, Ally Wollaston finished ninth, marking the best result for AG Insurance – Soudal in the race. The stage victory went to Thalita De Jong.
“We are very satisfied with today’s performance,” said team manager Fien after the race. “In the early part of the race, we had Febe in a breakaway group of 17 riders. With about 55 kilometers to go, a group of seven riders, including our Tess, managed to break away and stayed ahead almost until the end. Tess rode an incredibly strong race, and it’s unfortunate they were caught just before the finish line.”
“Ally was in the group that caught them, and she ultimately finished ninth in what was a tough race with a challenging finish. Overall, the two days went well. Yesterday, you could still see that Ally was 5 percent below her best after illness, but today we saw significant improvement. This is certainly positive for the upcoming races.”
“Febe did a fantastic job bringing Ally to the front. I’m very pleased with the performance of the entire team, especially since it was a race without earpieces, so I couldn’t always guide them. It was a strong team effort.”
