Kim Le Court third on Stage 4 and retains the leader’s jersey
Kim Le Court sprinted to third place on Stage 4 of the Tour of Britain Women, successfully defending her overall lead ahead of tomorrow’s final stage.
The penultimate stage proved to be a demanding one for AG Insurance–Soudal. As expected, several teams tried to put pressure on the race leader with attacks throughout the day. The Wolves remained composed and worked hard to control the race, close the gaps and keep Kim in the best possible position.
In the final 40 kilometres, Le Court took responsibility herself and stayed attentive at the front. The stage eventually came down to a sprint, where the Mauritian champion powered to third place, adding another podium finish to an already impressive week.
“We knew we had to be really alert today because we expected attacks from the other teams. My teammates did everything they could to close the gaps and keep me safe and in a good position. From the final 40 kilometres onwards, it was up to me to show how the legs were and try to gain some seconds at the finish while making sure I finished safely.
Tomorrow is another day in green. We really want to keep this momentum going, finish this race in a nice and safe way and, of course, do everything we can to defend the jersey.”
With her third place, Le Court strengthens her position in the general classification and will head into tomorrow’s final stage wearing the leader’s jersey.
One stage remains, with the Wolves ready for one final fight to bring green all the way to the finish.
