Shari Bossuyt and Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio headline our six-rider squad for the last stage race of the month.

May is Spain’s month for our team. After racing in Galicia, Asturias and the Basque Country, AG Insurance - Soudal will be present this week in Burgos - a beautiful province boasting a rich cultural heritage - for the seventh edition of a demanding stage race.

Vuelta a Burgos kicks off with a stage for the sprinters, who’ll have two big chances to fight for victory before the peloton takes on a more rugged territory on the penultimate day, when the overall ranking is likely to change. For the first time in three years, the race returns to the grueling slopes of the legendary Lagunas de Neila, one of Spain’s most famous climbs, where the last stage will conclude. Averaging 10% over six kilometers, Lagunas de Neila is going to be decisive in the way the general classification will look on Saturday, when the event finishes.

Victorious in a stage at La Vuelta Femenina just a few weeks ago and one of the team’s most consistent riders this season, Shari Bossuyt will be one of our six riders to pin a number for the Vuelta a Burgos, which gets underway on May 21. Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio, third overall here in 2023, will target again a good result in the general classification, together with a strong AG Insurance - Soudal squad featuring also Mireia Benito, Anya Louw, Alexandra Manly and Nicole Steigenga, winner of Omloop van Borsele last month.

We have a solid team and that makes us very excited for the race. Shari showed in the Vuelta what she is capable of in the sprints, and there will be some nice opportunities in Burgos, where she will rely on a strong lead-out. Regarding the GC, Ashleigh is our leader and we’ll support her to get another good result. We can’t wait for the race to start and be back in the thick of the action”, said sports director Jolien D’hoore.
