Reflecting on the past month, I'm mostly reminded of the mental challenges. The season started far from ideally, partly due to a winter that didn't go as planned. It was only in the last few weeks that I felt I was back to my old level. Although I had physical confidence, this was not reflected in my results, which was a real mental challenge. Experiencing material failure multiple times, preventing me from finishing races, was particularly frustrating. Knowing you have the capability but being unable to complete the race due to misfortune feels bitter.

A crucial lesson I've learned is the importance of focusing on the aspects I can influence - such as my training and my own approach to racing. Amidst the unpredictability of material failure or crashes, I focused on my strength and strategy. My confidence in my own qualities and form remains unchanged; I am convinced that with a bit of luck, the desired result is within reach, and I can achieve a great result for AG Insurance - Soudal.

Notable in the past month were Sarah's victory in the Santos Tour Down Under and Tadej Pogacar's breathtaking solo in Strade Bianche, which extra motivated me. Also, the increasing competition within the peloton hasn't escaped me; the less dominant position of some top teams gives me more confidence.

In terms of training, I am on the right path, thanks to a productive training period in Spain. Now, the goal is to continue this good shape towards the Walloon classics and the Vuelta. I am determined to continue this positive trend.

In my approach to races, I am experimenting with a bolder strategy. I try to race more aggressively, allow myself to take risks, and worry less about potential outcomes during the race. It is for me a process of exploring my own limits and above all, finding joy in what I do. I aim to say after each race that I've done everything within my power.

In preparation for the upcoming races, I am taking this week to do course recon of the Walloon classics. Knowledge of the race is crucial for good positioning at critical moments. Also, recovery is a priority; in addition to intensive training, I ensure sufficient relaxation and quality time with my family.
